Claude or ChatGPT: which should your business use?

They look alike, but they're good at different things. We cover where each one is stronger and how to pick for the work you do.

We set up both for Australian businesses, so we see where each one wins. Both can write, summarise, search the web, read your files and connect to other tools.

Where ChatGPT is stronger

  • Images. ChatGPT makes and edits images inside the chat: social posts, ad mock-ups, product shots, quick graphics. Claude can't create images.
  • Voice. Its voice mode is natural for talking an idea through on the drive between jobs.
  • Familiarity. Most of your team has probably tried it already, so there's less to learn on day one.
  • Shareable custom assistants. You can build a custom GPT for one job and share it with your team.

Where Claude is stronger

  • Writing that sounds like you. Claude's drafts tend to read more naturally and need fewer edits on everyday emails, proposals and quotes.
  • Long documents. It handles big contracts, policies and reports well and keeps track of the detail across the whole thing.
  • Working inside your business. Projects hold your business knowledge so every chat starts already knowing it. Connectors link it to your inbox, calendar, documents and CRM.
  • Building things. It can make working documents, spreadsheets, charts and simple tools as well as text.

So which one?

  • Mostly email, admin, quotes and documents? Start with Claude.
  • Lots of visual content, or a team that already lives in ChatGPT? Start with ChatGPT.
  • Both? Plenty of businesses run Claude as the day-to-day assistant and keep ChatGPT for images.

Features change fast. Check each provider's website for what's on offer today, and read their current terms before you put business information in.
